'Martin' actor Tommy Ford passes away at 52

Tommy Ford, who is known for his role on the '90s sitcom Martin , has passed away. He was 52.

TMZ reported that Ford suffered a stomach aneurysm earlier this week and was admitted to a hospital. The media outlet also noted that his wife, Gina, said on Wednesday morning that he was on life support and in grave condition. With his health deteriorating, the actor's family made the difficult decision to turn off the life support this afternoon.

Ford played Martin's best friend on the sitcom for its entire five-season run. His character was known as a ladies man as well as the voice of reason for Martin Lawrence's character and his mysterious employment status became a hilarious running joke on the show.

After Martin concluded in 1997, Ford went on to play Lieutenant Malcolm Barker on New York Undercover and had roles in other sitcoms including The Jamie Foxx Show and The Parkers.
