Disney has confirmed they are producing a re-imagining of the 1994 classic, The Lion King. Following the huge success of The Jungle Book reboot earlier this year, they have joined with Jon Favreau again to fast track the live-action production.
Not many details have been released yet, but in a press release, Disney stated songs from the Academy Award winning album will be included.
Favreau took to Twitter to share his excitement.
Excited for my next project ????????

However, not everyone is reacting well to the news.

Disney is rebooting The Lion King. To make the plot more current, Scar tries proving Simba can't be king because he wasn't born in Africa.

They have also tapped Favreau for Jungle Book 2. Neither film has a release date yet.
