‘The Conjuring 2’ Blu-ray movie review

On September 13, Warner Home Video put out its frightening new release The Conjuring 2 on Blu-ray. The film is perfect for the upcoming spooky season and only gets better with repeated watching.

The movie follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as they investigate a possession and haunting in Enfield, England. The family that lives there is being terrorized by the spirit of an old man, but all is not as it appears. Is the 11-year-old girl faking the incidents for attention? Will Lorraine’s premonition of her husband’s death come true at this case’s finale?

I saw this movie in the theater as well and parts of it felt a little over-the-top for me then. However, when viewing the Blu-ray, I was able to sit back and enjoy the entertainment of the film more. It really was a lot of fun with some good jump-out-of-your-seat scare moments. I had forgotten a number of scenes and I also liked watching my niece and fiancé squirm and scream. It’s definitely a film that can be viewed over and over again.

The Blu-ray version included some interesting bonus features. I watched the deleted scenes which answered a couple of questions I had about things that happened in the film. The Enfield Poltergeist: Living the Horror was especially intriguing. It’s a 10-minute documentary that interviews the real family and investigators that the film was based on.

All in all, The Conjuring 2 is an entertaining horror film that improves with multiple viewings. It’s worth the purchase price to scare your family and friends during this season of terror.
