Chrissy Teigen has sparked a new Twitter debate with her fellow users on the micro-blogging site.
The model seemed to upset some in the Twittersphere when she tried to have a discussion about the word "oriental." Teigen, who is part Asian herself, first explained that she is not all about political correctness but was a little bothered by an option for "oriental dressing" on a recent flight.
I really really really really clearly am not a PC type of gal but I'm a little weirded out at the oriental dressing option on my flight

Like if you're over 50 you can call me oriental to my face but this is a new menu and I'm not a rug

Many people chimed in about that innocent comment, but then she was asked if she thought the word was "offensive" and things took a turn.
"Not offensive, really. Just weird. Old school. Just say Asian," she wrote, adding that her "PC-ness is very lenient."
The 30-year-old went on to tweet, "But them saying 'oriental' makes no impact on me. I know that, most of the time, their intention is not to hurt."

When one commenter tweeted at her saying that the word was "incredibly inappropriate" she responded that she felt the word was not a "slur" rather just "forgivable ignorance."
It's not a slur, though. It's just a bit of forgivable ignorance. https://t.co/SGFEPLvwrQ

Not everyone agreed with her assessment though and out came the wrath of Twitter.
@schubie71 @chrissyteigen I agree, it might not be offensive to her but it's considered offensive to many. It perpetuates cultural ignorance

Eventually, Teigen tweeted that there was some "miscommunication" over the definition of what is offensive.
I think our miscommunication here is the fact we have different definitions of the word "offensive".

but thank you for reminding me why Twitter can be insufferable. I was getting too comfy enjoying it and all.
