Thomas Gibson joins Twitter in the wake of his 'Criminal Minds' firing

Thomas Gibson wants to "connect' with his fans just days after getting axed from Criminal Minds due to an on-set altercation.

Gibson's drama began on Aug. 11, when the former Special Agent Aaron Hotchner was first slapped with a suspension for kicking a writer on the CBS production.

As we reported, ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios ultimately decided to fire Gibson for the behind-the-scenes quarrel.

In what seems like a career-salvaging attempt, the troubled actor has joined Twitter to speak on the fallout.

"I'm here on #Twitter so we can stay connected in the days to come, and talk directly with each other," Gibson wrote.

"The support you showed means the world to me and my family," he continued. "This is not an ending, but a beginning as well. Thank you all."

Gibson also wanted to publicize that he is "disappointed" by his actions that led to his untimely dismissal from the series, which is headed into its 12th season.

The actor had been set to star in the entire upcoming season on the procedural drama, as he was contracted for.

Criminal Minds' new season commences on Sept. 28th.
