Leslie Jones' Olympic Twitter commentary may have earned her trip to Rio

Social media users are delighted by Leslie Jones' Twitter sports commentary of the Olympics and the actress' enthusiasm for the games may have won her a trip to Rio.

The Saturday Night Live comedian had spent her weekend dressed in red, white and blue as she cheered on Team USA reports Yahoo! News and filled her Twitter feed Saturday with sports commentary, from announcing 19-year-old shooter Virginia “Ginny” Thrasher’s first gold medal win to three-time gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings’ appearance on the sand for beach volleyball.

One Twitter user decided to turn NBC Olympics’ executive producer Jim Bell’s attention to Jones’ commentary, pointing out that it could help NBC’s ratings as well as inspire Team USA to win more gold medals. According to People, Bell then took notice of her dedicated live-tweeting and extended an invitation for her to join the network's coverage in Rio.

The Ghostbusters star responded to Bell’s tweet saying that she was interested in the offer, so we may be seeing her in Rio very soon!
