'Law & Order' alum Steven Hill dies at age 94

Steven Hill, the actor who famously played District Attorney Adam Schiff on Law & Order, has passed away at age 94.

In addition to being one of the founders of The Actors Studio, he was also one of the original characters in the ‘60s show Mission: Impossible.

His son, Rabbi Yehoshua Hill, revealed the news of his father’s death to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hill was part of the Law & Order series for its first 10 seasons since the beginning in 1990.

Show creator Dick Wolf said in a statement, “Steven was not only one of the truly great actors of his generation, he was one of the most intelligent people I have ever met.” He also said that while Hill was no longer with us, he would be “missed” and still seen in reruns of Law & Order.

Besides acting, Hill was also a veteran of the stage. His first stage roles were for A Flag is Born in 1946 and Mr. Roberts two years later.

Martin Landau praised Hill as “legendary” in the book Ball of Fire: The Tumultuous Life and Comic Art of Lucille Ball.

Hill is survived by four children from his first marriage and five children with his current wife, Rachel.
