Although the iconic franchise has concluded, J.K. Rowling is ensuring that fans will still get Harry Potter in some capacity.
In a deal with Warner Bros., NBCUniveral has obtained access to Rowling's Wizarding World. Starting July 1, 2018 we can watch Harry, Ron and Hermione conjure up spells on NBCUniversal networks, including Syfy and USA.
The new agreement leaves no Potter film behind as the entire movie collection is accessible to NBCUniversal.
This pact, which the Wall Street Journal reported on, is one of the more colossal television deals that has materialized as of late and will also give NBCUniversal privilege to Rowling's unreleased Fantastic Beasts franchise that will commence in November.
"Having all of these films in one place builds upon the existing relationship we already have with NBCUniversal and J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World," said Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution president, Jeffrey R. Schlesinger. "And creates many exciting new opportunities across multiple platforms for both our companies and the fans of this franchise.”
Included in the deal reportedly worth $250 billion are bonuses such as extended director cut and 3D versions of the films, as well as a 2011 short titled When Harry Left Hogwarts.
The partnership is set to have an eight-year life span, ending in April 2025.
