Frank Ocean releases new album 'Blonde'

It has seemed like an eternity of waiting (actual time, about four years), but Frank Ocean has finally blessed us with his new album titled Blonde.

After a series of cryptic social media posts and false alarm release dates, Ocean finally released his album via Apple Music Exclusive on Aug. 18.

The album was also accompanied with a magazine titled Boys Don't Cry (which at one point was believed to be the title of Ocean's new album) that came with four different covers and included photos, poetry by Ocean, short stories, interviews and even a TV show outline.

But Ocean remains a creature of mystery and so his album wasn't released without an element of strangeness. Firstly, there appears to be a discrepancy in the spelling of the title. According to Billboard, on some of the album artwork, the title is listed as Blond, but Apple Music lists the title as Blonde, a possible indicator that there are multiple versions of the album. It has also been suggested that the CD included with the Blonde magazine isn't the same as the digitally released tracks.

Blonde includes an extensive roster of collaborators and contributors including Andre 3000, Beyoncé, Kanye West (who recites a poem about McDonald's), Kim Burrell and a host of other artists. Ocean commemorated the release of his album by setting up a series of pop-up shops in Chicago, Los Angeles, London and New York City where a select number of fans received a free copy of Blonde the CD and magazine. Although he was rumored to be making an appearance at the pop up shops, the elusive singer was a no show.
