Christie Brinkley's teenage daughter, Sailor Brinkley Cook, has had it with internet trolls comparing her to her legendary model mother and she decided to give them a piece of her mind.
The 18-year-old saw some unsettling comments under a news article on Aug. 17, which had the haters talking about her looks and comparing her to her mom and older sister, Alexa Ray Joel. She took a screenshot of the remarks and wrote a lengthy post on Instagram calling the trolls out for their comments.
"So, I usually never read the comment section under any stupid article about me.. And when i do i usually never take the comments to heart.. But i am so fed up." she wrote. "First of all- everyone needs to stop putting me and my siblings and me and my mother in competition. I believe comparison will kill you. Comparison to others is toxic and unhealthy.
"As long as I am happy healthy and kind to others why should i care if i am not as 'pretty' as someone else ? Let alone not as 'pretty' as my own blood relatives?"
She also spoke out against one commenter who put down Parsons School of Design, the college she will be attending this fall.
"Pushing down the school i worked my ass off for 4 years to get into, saying its for do-nothing trust fund babies, is not only stereotyping a scholastic community but is just plain incorrect and rude! I know many kids enrolled in Parsons who are the most hard working and passionate students in all of new york."
Cook concluded the post by again asking that everyone stop comparing what she is doing to her mother's 50 some years in the business.
After getting all that out she felt much better and tweeted about it on Thursday.
Really glad i spoke up about the comments i've received since i was 15 and started this whole 'following in my moms footsteps' thing
