Chrissy Teigen noticed something about Saturday’s Miss Teen USA contest and took to social media to call out the pageant for a lack of diversity among the top five finalists.
Of course the contest wasn’t made up of all white, blonde beauties but the choice of the finalists to take home the crown was and Teigen decided to address it.
The model, who is married to singer John Legend, responded to a tweet sent out by the Miss Teen USA Twitter account which showed a picture of the top five blonde hair, blue-eyed contestants.

“Wow how can we choose from such a diverse bunch,” Teigen wrote.

In an effort to not directly insult the women who made the cut, Teigen followed that tweet up with “It's fiiiiiine. Not their fault. I'm sure they are delightful women. Just funny. I'm not gonna write a think-piece on a damn pageant.”

By Tuesday though, the model sent another tweet out apparently responding to some backlash she received for her original tweet.
I'll take the ignorance but hands down the worst part of this entire thing is the fact I gave anyone the misconception I care about pageants

The press about the lack of diversity comes after praise the pageant received recently for deciding to pull the plug on the swimsuit competition. But not being diverse enough isn’t the main story that grabbed headlines after the winner was crowned. Miss Texas Karlie Hay won and she, as well as the Miss Teen USA pageant, were blasted after racist, profanity-laced tweets were uncovered on Hay’s Twitter account.
She later apologized and pageant officials said she will keep her crown.
