'Making a Murderer' receives new episodes on Netflix

The story of Steven Avery will continue as Netflix has ordered more episodes of Making a Murderer.

The new episodes will follow the post-conviction process. The lawyers representing Avery and his co-defendant, Brendan Dassey, as well as people and families close to the case will be featured in the returning episodes of the documentary show.

"We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series," creators Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi said. "The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold."

The show premiered on Dec. 18 and chronicled the murder conviction of Avery and his nephew.

In January 2016, after the show debuted and Avery's attorney filed a new appeal.

Making a Murderer received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series last week. Netflix scored 14 major nominations as its new United States subscriber count for the 2016 second quarter was 340,000 short of expectations, according to Boy Genius Report.
