'Dope' star Kiersey Clemons up for lead in 'The Flash'

The director and a star of Dope might reunite for The Flash movie.  It has been reported Kiersey Clemons is the top pick for the female lead.

The character she could play is likely going to be Iris West, according to Variety. She is a journalist who is also a good friend of the Scarlet Speedster.

Clemons is best known for her performance in last year’s critically-acclaimed dramedy Dope. She also had a supporting role on Halle Berry’s short-lived sci-fi series Extant.  She can currently be seen in a role on Amazon’s Transparent. She also appeared in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.

Dope director Rick Famuyiwa will direct from a script from the previous director, Seth Grahame-Smith.  The story was developed by The LEGO Movie scribes Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Ezra Miller has been cast as the titular hero, Barry Allen. He briefly appeared as the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which was released back in March. The Flash hits theaters in 2018.
