Dee Gordon apologizes to Marlins fans via Twitter before returning from suspension

Miami Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon apologized to his fans on Thursday before he returned from his suspension.

According to the Associated Press, Gordon was suspended for 80 games in April after testing positive for two performance-enhancing substances. He said that he didn’t know that he taken the banned substances.

After being reinstated, he apologized to the fans in a video from the UNINTERRUPTED on Twitter.

"I know I let you down, and I'm sorry," Gordon said in the clip. "Complacency led me to this, and I'm hurt. I urge you guys to be more responsible than I am about what goes into your body. I wouldn't wish this on anyone."

Marlins president David Samson said that the ball club is happy to have him back.

Gordon hit .333 and won the National League batting and stolen bases titles, and the Gold Glove last year. He was also an All-Star for the second time in his career. Gordon played in 21 games this season before he was suspended. He was hitting .266 and had six stolen bases before he was suspended, according to Fox Sports.

The Marlins designated infielder Don Kelly for assignment to make room on the roster for Gordon, who will make his return in Thursday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
