Twitter reacts to Taylor Hall being traded to Devils by Oilers

The New Jersey Devils acquired left wing Taylor Hall on Wednesday, June 29, in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers .

The Oilers will get defenseman Adam Larsson from the Devils in exchange for Hall. There was no salary retained by either team. Hall has a salary cap hit of $6 million while Larsson has a cap-hit of $4.166 million next season, according to ESPN.

"Taylor is a dynamic player with speed and youth that changes the complexion of our team," Devils general manager Ray Shero said. "We feel he fits into the direction we wanted to go a year ago which is that fast, supportive and attacking style."

Hall was drafted by the Oilers as the No. 1 overall pick in 2010. He has played for the Oilers for his entire career. He had 132 goals, 196 assists and made it to the 2016 All-Star game in six seasons with the Oilers, according to Fox Sports. The left wing lead the Oilers in scoring in three of the last four seasons.

Larsson was drafted by the Devils in 2011. He had three goals and 15 assists in 82 games last season. In his career Larsson has nine goals, 60 assists and 69 points.

The trade shocked the NHL world and people took to social media to react to the trade.


The NHL’s free agency period begins on Friday.
