3. Señor Wences
Before the world met and fell in love with ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, there was Señor Wences. This Spaniard frequented The Ed Sullivan Show in the 1950s and 1960s, where he was often heckled by his “partners” Pedro, a head in a box who was known to say "s'awright" and Johnny, a puppet drawn onto his own hand with a mop of blond hair. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the US National Comedy Hall of Fame in 1996, before he passed away in 1999.
