Top 10 reasons why the History Channel’s ‘Alone' may give you nightmares, but you have to keep watching anyway

9. Understanding the concept of being alone

There is a big difference between solitude and loneliness, and for some players, the loneliness sets in very quickly and they tap out mighty fast.  As there is a lot of hard work to do, most are able to keep busy, but during the occasional lulls, you can see them looking for stimulation and they talk about plans or loved ones—thus keeping them grounded in reality.  However, when injury strikes, there is no one around the corner to help.  When they are hungry, there is no place to buy food. These people are really on their own and even if they know they can leave, it isn’t instantaneous.  That lack of control over one’s own life is a scary concept, but a valuable lessons to learn.
