Ruben Aguirre of the Mexican television show "El Chavo" passed away on Friday morning. He was 82 years old.
Aguirre's wife, June, announced in the beginning of the month that her husband was in a serious condition and his health was in fact failing.
"From one day to another he lost all his strength and now he's not moving," she said, "He can't even roll on the bed and is not talking as much. Diabetes has him like that," she told the TV show.
However, it was his daughter, Veronica Aguirre, who confirmed to CNN en Espanol that her father had passed away from complications with pneumonia. The actor was hospitalized back in May, then released on June 7 back to their Puerto Vallarta home in Mexico.
Aguirre's co-star, Edgar Vivar broke the news on his Twitter early in the morning on June 17.
“My favorite professor rests in peace now,” he wrote, "Today my good friend Rubén Aguirre left this earth. I will miss you very much.”
