'Nashville' renewed for fifth season on CMT

Nashville, the musical drama series that was recently axed by ABC, has been picked up by CMT with Hulu streaming the episodes the day after.

The Emmy and Golden Globe nominated show starring Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) and Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) playing country singers in Nashville, Tennessee aired the final episode of its fourth season on May 25, 2016. The episode ended on a cliffhanger to the lowest ratings of a season finale for the series, according to TV by the Numbers.

“CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for Nashville has been overwhelming,” said the president of CMT Brian Philips, “Nashville is a perfect addition to our evolving line-up of big music specials, documentaries, and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT.”

“We always had faith that we would find a way to bring Nashville back to its devoted fans, and we’re very proud to be in partnership with CMT and Hulu to extend the life of this series,” said the executive vice president of ABC Studios Patrick Moran.

CMT has yet to announce when "Nashies" can watch the new season.
