'Deadpool' sequel to begin filming in 2017

According to producer Simon Kinberg, the Deadpool sequel will begin filming early next year.

Speaking to Collider, Kinberg said the script is in progress and they're looking to get the cameras rolling sometime in the budding months of 2017.

"The guys, [Paul] Wernick and Rhett [Reese], are working on the script, and we hope to have the script very soon," Kinberg said on the red carpet at the 42nd Saturn Awards. "We hope to shoot the movie some time at the beginning of next year."

Even though Disney and Warner Bros. have Marvel and DC films with release dates through 2019, 20th Century Fox is a lot more quiet on when exactly their new superhero films will be released. Fox has Oct. 6, 2017, March 2, 2018 and June 29, 2018 set for untitled Marvel movies.

The Marvel movies Fox has in production include a Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie filming now slated for March, Gambit starring Channing Tatum, a New Mutants movie to follow up the recently-released X-Men: Apocalypse, a Fantastic Four sequel that hasn't been officially cancelled yet and the Deadpool sequel. None of these films besides the Wolverine movie have release dates set yet.
