The 70th Annual Tony Awards aired last night from the Beacon Theatre in New York City with host James Corden, who led the evening with support and love to the community in Orlando after the horrific tragedy that unfolded just hours before. For the entire evening, presenters and winners gave their condolences and in the case of Frank Langella during his win for Best Actor in a Play, he urged the city to be strong in the wake of what happened. The night was full of joy and love, showing strength and resolve to keep moving forward.
Winners of the night included the most talked about play Hamilton, which took home 11 awards, including Best Musical. Lin-Manuel Miranda took home the Tony for Best Book of a Musical and Best Score while Leslie Odom Jr. won Best Actor in a Musical for Hamilton.
Other winners included Jessica Lange for the revival of Long Day’s Journey Into Night and Langella won a Tony for Best Actor in a Play for The Father.
