Just like fellow Scot, Rob Roy, Jamie has a code that he strictly adheres to. He will not dishonor his family by vowing allegiance to another, even his own uncle. He wants to do the right thing, and he will risk his life to do so. He never kills a man who doesn’t need killing. When he gets into trouble, he does not expect anyone to put themselves in harm’s way for him. However, even when it came to marrying Claire, he wanted to make sure it was done properly, in a church, by a priest, with a wedding ring, and with the bride in a beautiful dress and him in his family tartan.
