Upfront preview: FOX announces 2016-2017 lineup

Just ahead of the network's upfront presentation, FOX announced its official schedule for the 2016-2017 TV season. Network CEO  and Chairman Gary Newman teased in a press release today that "next season on FOX, we’ll have more original programming across our schedule than ever before."

Included in this new diverse slate of programming for fall are dramas Lethal Weapon starring Damon Wayans and Rectify's Clayne Crawford as the Los Angeles detective duo from the popular film franchise and The Exorcist, based on the iconic horror movie, starring Geena Davis.

Also being added to the fall lineup is perhaps the most unique comedy announced for next season, Son Of Zorn, a hybrid animation and live action series that brings Jason Sudeikis to voice acting as a warrior with a family, including an ex-wife played by Cheryl Hines.

Later in the season we'll see the premiere of the two-hour event The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Victoria Justice and Laverne Cox and the mid-season will include a 24 reboot Legacy, which will premiere after the Super Bowl in February. There will also be an Empire spin-off  titled Star featuring Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt. Dramas will make a huge imprint at FOX with the baseball drama Pitch, police drama APB, the reboot of Prison Break and the racially-charged drama Shots Fired starring Sanaa Lathan and Race's Stephan James, but not to be forgotten, FOX has also ordered comedies The Mick and Making History starring Adam Pally and Leighton Meester for a mid-season debut.
