On Monday morning, one of the trending hashtags on Twitter was #GiveElsaAGirlfriend, in reference to the beloved Disney Princess from Frozen.
The hashtag was first given notice on April 30 when a Twitter user brought up the idea of Disney making Elsa gay would be “iconic.”
I hope Disney makes Elsa a lesbian princess imagine how iconic that would be

Many fans took to Twitter to request Disney allow for LGBT representation in Disney films, especially a lead such as a princess.
Of course as with all types of discussion, there are people who are not for this particular argument, saying that since Disney is geared toward children, it is not the right setting for this particular stance on LGBT issues.
One user pointed out that one Disney film has a girl falling in love with a beast (Beauty and the Beast) while a fish (The Little Mermaid) became sexualized.
See just some of the tweets below and tell us what you think about this.
The fact that #GiveElsaAGirlfriend is trending makes me so happy, I wish I had gay @Disney characters to look up to ????????

#giveelsaagirlfriend if it's "okay" for a girl to date a beast&sexualize a fish, then ofc its okay to date the same gender. #loveislove

#GiveElsaAGirlfriend there is no reason not to, it's time to teach children of all genders that homosexuality is just as normal and valid

The sequel to Frozen was set to go into production this month when Kristen Bell, who voices Anna in the movie, said voice work would begin.
