11. Give Susie Fogelson, SVP Marketing & Brand Strategy for Food Network her own show
Shows like The Kitchen are a great way to provide a foodie audience with tips, but what about giving tips for people who want guidance on how to become food writers, food/wine restaurant critics, celebrity top chefs or restaurateurs? How does one build a culinary point of view? How can someone build their own food-related brand? Where should one go to build an audience? When should one think about expansion? What are the steps one should take if their dream is to be on the Food Network? Susie Fogelson is one of the most-charming, intelligent, attractive and well-versed in food, not-to-mention marketing, people on television. It is a shame we usually only see her during Next Food Network Star. Why not give her a regular show, or at least a limited series where she can talk about the business and aesthetics needed to be on or work in the often media-centric food industry? Pair her with someone like Dana Cowin (Chef’s Club International, Chief Creative Director/ Emeritus Editor-in-Chief of Food & Wine), Gail Simmons (permanent judge on Bravo’s Top Chef, also an editor with Food & Wine), Ted Allen (host of Chopped) and/or a famous restaurateur. They could bring in guests who can share the secret of their success from a marketing and business perspective.
