10. Her clever, constant use of profanity
While she is a far cry from Deadwood’s Al Swearengen (played by Ian McShane), Claire can spew out her share of profane vitriol. To the viewer, “Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ” can be heard as a unique catchphrase, but, add in a few other of her choice axioms, especially when uttered to a bunch of highlander men and her tongue is shocking. Just swearing on TV isn’t unique, nor is it usually that interesting, however Claire is able to expel a torrent of profanity that never really feels vulgar. It is an original brand of profane eloquence.
