Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper gives homeless woman jar of money on Mother's Day

Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper made a woman’s day on Mother’s Day by giving her a jar full of money.

Asheley Marie, who works part-time in event operations for the Chicago Cubs, posted on Facebook that she was working security for the Nationals’ team bus after the game and saw something amazing. Marie said that Harper emerged from the bus with a glass jar full of money and ran across the street to give it to a homeless women who was sitting under a tree, according to the Washington Post. It is unknown how much money was in the jar and if the money in the jar was Harper’s money.

"I couldn’t help but give him knucks as he got back on the bus & told him he was a good man," Marie wrote, "He gave them back with a smile & a big thank you!”

Harper walked six times and was hit by a pitch in seven plate appearances on Sunday. He matched the major league record for walks in a game with six, which was last done by Jeff Bagwell in 1999. He is the first player in MLB history to reach base seven times in a game without an official at-bat, the Associated Press notes. This season he has a .265 average with 10 homeruns and 27 RBIS, according to ESPN.

The Cubs won the game 4-3. The Nationals are 19-12 and are in second place in the NL East, half a game behind the New York Mets.
