USA released a trailer for the second season of Mr. Robot as well as trailers for new the series Shooter and Falling Water at the 2016 NBCUniversal upfront.
The critically-acclaimed hacker drama Mr. Robot follows young cyber-security engineer, Elliot (Rami Malek), after he is recruited by a mysterious man (Christian Slater) to join the hacktivist group, fsociety. The trailer shows the aftermath of the group's hack from the first season. Stores are closing, the president has had to make a statement and Elliot is still unaware of what happened in the three days he missed after the night of the hack. The second season premieres Wednesday, July 13 at 10 p.m.
The first season of Mr. Robot took home two Golden Globes: Best Television Series - Drama and Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Christian Slater). Leading man Rami Malek also received a nomination for Best Actor in a Television Series - Drama.
USA also revealed trailers for two of their new shows. Shooter, based on Stephen Hunter's novel Point of Impact and its 2007 film adaption starring Mark Wahlberg, follows an ex-Marine sniper (Ryan Phillippe) persuaded back into action after he learns of a plot to kill the President of the United States. Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Spartacus, Arrow) and Omar Epps (House, ER) also star in the drama executive produced by Wahlberg. The series premieres this summer.
"If you can control people's dreams, you can control the world," says a voiceover in the trailer for Falling Water. The new drama is about three unrelated people who realize that they are dreaming different parts of the same dream and how this strange occurrence might hold the fate of the world. David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6), Will Yun Lee (Hawaii 5-0), and Lizzie Brochere (American Horror Story) star in the series slated for a release this fall.
