Minnesota Twins ball boy makes catch, saves fan (Video)

A Minnesota Twins ball boy saved a young fan from being hit with a baseball by making a spectacular catch during Tuesday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Orioles left fielder Joey Rickard was at the plate for the in the top of the ninth inning and hit a foul ball down the right field line on a 1-2 pitch. The ball was traveling very fast and headed for a young fan. The Twins ball boy had his glove outstretched, jumped up and sideways and caught the ball, which was a foot above the head of a young fan, according to Yahoo Sports.

Several onlookers gave the ball boy high fives after he made the catch and he gave the baseball to a nearby kid.

The Twins have struggled this year. They are 27th in the majors in runs (109), 24th in home runs (27), 25th in batting average (.236) and 23rd in on-base percentage (.305), according to Sports Illustrated. In addition to struggling on offense, the Twins are struggling in pitching as well. Ricky Nolasco leads the Twins with a 4.70 ERA and Phil Hughes is 1-5 and has a 1.42 WHIP.

The Twins lost the game 5-3. They are 8-24 and in last place in the AL Central, 14 games behind the Chicago White Sox in first place.
