Kirsten Storms takes leave of absence from 'General Hospital'

Kirsten Storms announced that she would be taking a leave of absence from popular soap opera General Hospital.

Storms, 32 , announced  via Twitter that she would be stepping away from the series due to a few skin issues she had been having recently. Molly Burnett will be stepping in to play Storms' character Maxie Jones through the month of July.

“I am taking a little break from work due to some skin issues I’ve been having. My dr’s say my breakouts are due to stress, but shouldn’t take too long to get under control. (I can say that I’m on the better end of it now). However, it was becoming too difficult for GH to coverup, " the tweet read.

Storms took a break from GH once before for nearly a year due to medical issues. During her last 10-month leave, Jen Lilley took her place as Maxie, according to Entertainment Weekly. Storms returned to the series in August 2012.

At this time, Storms hasn't announced a definite return date, EW reports.
