Daniel Craig would net a heck of a paycheck if he plays James Bond two more times.
According to Daily Mail, Craig turned down £68 million (over $99 million) to play the spy for two more outings. A source said that Craig is, "done," and that distributor MGM, "threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn't what he wanted."
The 48-year-old has reportedly been paid £38 million (over $55 million) for his four Bond films so far.
Meanwhile, the BBC carries a report that says Craig has yet to step down from the franchise, and a final decision won't be made for some time.
Spectre, Craig's fourth film as James Bond, grossed over $880.6 million worldwide upon its release last year. His third film, Skyfall, earned over $1.1 billion at the box office in 2012. His four Bond films have together grossed over $3.1 billion, the most of any Bond by far (Pierce Brosnan's four films grossed $1.4 billion in a distant second).
As for a potential replacement for Craig, the 35-year-old English actor Tom Hiddleston (Avengers, Thor and Crimson Peak) was seen with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli and Spectre and Skyfall director Sam Mendes late Tuesday night at a club in London, according to Mirror. Hiddleston was last seen in the TV miniseries The Night Manager, where he earned positive notices for playing a man recruited to infiltrate the inner circle of an arms dealer.
Daniel Craig can next be seen in the television series Purity.
