7. Beaches
Another film about friendship that spans several decades, Beaches revolves around singer C.C. (Bette Midler) and lawyer Hillary Whitney (Barbara Hershey), two young women who form a strong bond and communicate regularly through letters. Though the dynamic between the two makes an impact, an especially resonate subplot involves C.C. and her mother, with whom she has had a difficult relationship due to her mom putting tremendous pressure on her from an early age. All throughout, C.C. herself struggles with the question of whether she'll make a good mom, reflecting back to her childhood. It's a tremendously affecting film and if you don't end up crying in the final sequence, you probably are not human.
