There's mama drama on 'Once Upon a Time'

Zelena

Zelena, who just wanted her baby, showed up in Storybrooke to take her when she got sucked into a portal to the Underworld. Once there, she realized that Hades was behind it, and she feared he wanted to hurt her baby, perhaps as revenge for breaking his heart. Yes, apparently Zelena broke Hades’ heart.

At some point in time, Hades paid Zelena a visit in Oz to help her with her time travel spell. He figured if she got it to work, he could make use of it as well. He just needed true love’s kiss to jump start his heart, and the trip back in time to keep Zeus from giving him the honor of ruling of the Underworld. Zelena didn’t buy it. She figured he’d back stab her like everyone else, so she turned him down. It really ticked him off and he let her know, in a rather menacing tone, that she would regret it! There is, however, an amusing scene of them enjoying a midnight bike ride.

Back to the baby mama drama, though. Zelena went to Robin and Regina for help in locating baby Hood. Once they found her, Zelena begged for the opportunity to feed her. When they finally acquiesced, she realized her magic was working and used it to escape with the baby. Foreseeably, there was a problem. Baby Hood received a minor boo boo during the escape, but Zelena wasn’t able to heal her. So, she gave her back to Robin and Regina, sobbing about how she can’t protect her.

In the end, Hades confronted her, claiming he still loves her. He explained to her that the Underworld looks like Storybrooke in her honor since she really wanted to be the one to cast the dark curse. He also informed her that he punished Cora for abandoning her, and he only wanted her baby to protect her. It all sounded too good to be true, so Zelena turned him down again, hinting at her previous exclamation “No one could love me!”

All in all, it was a very emotional episode for Zelena, and regardless of your feelings towards her, it was difficult not to sympathize with her. It’s up for debate whether Hades was being completely truthful, or whether he was trying to trick Zelena as part of punishing her for rejecting him. Does he just want to get his hands on her baby? Is his love for Zelena the weakness that will allow our heroes to defeat him? Do you think Hades and Zelena deserve to be loved? Let us know what you think in the comment section below, please.
