NWA responds to Gene Simmons comments on the 'death of rap' at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

M.C. Ren, a member of rap group N.W.A, responded to KISS frontman Gene Simmons' comments about rap music being part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the ceremony on April 8.

“I want to say to Mr. Gene Simmons, hip-hop is here forever — get used to it,” said M.C. Ren during the acceptance speech, according to the NY Post.

M.C. Ren was responding to a comment Simmons made during an interview with the Rolling Stones.

During the interview, the rocker said that he is "looking forward to the death of rap."

Ice Cube then had some things to say about this confusion between rap being a part of rock and roll.

“Are we rock and roll? Ya god damn right we’re rock and roll,” he said.

He also explained how rock and roll is not about conforming “to the people who came before you,” but instead “creating your own path, in music and in life. That is rock and roll, and that is us.”

However, Simmons wasn't amused by Ice Cube's comment, posting this tweet the next day.
