Kyle Busch hits woman with car in garage during NASCAR race at Bristol

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch hit a fan while driving his car to the garage area during Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Busch, who won the last two Sprint Cup races, blew two right-front tires during the race. After the second blown tire, he drove his car to the garage area and hit Erin Vandyke, a longtime race fan who was taking pictures on pit road and was briefly knocked down to the ground by the hit, according to Fox Sports.

Vandyke went to the infield care center after the incident, even though she said she was fine, and later went to a local hospital to be evaluated.

“After it happened, I didn’t go get checked initially when it happened,” Vandyke said. “But after I started bending around, it started hurting. So I went to the infield medical center and got checked out. And they told me if it started hurting more to go on and get checked completely, because they didn’t have X-rays there.”

Vandyke talked about the incident in a Facebook post.

Busch finished 38th in Sunday’s race. He has two wins and is fifth in points this season.

NASCAR heads to Richmond next weekend.
