'Hamilton' wins Pulitzer Prize

The already popular, Grammy Award-winning, White House-approved hip-hop musical Hamilton can add another honor to its roster: Pulitzer Prize.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the mastermind behind Hamilton and In the Heights, received the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Hamilton.

Miranda took to Twitter to share his excitement.

The Associated Press also received a Pulitzer for public service for its story "Seafood From Slaves," which detailed cruelty and slavery in fishing industries around the world, according to The New York Times. Paris Bureau Chief of The New York Times, Alissa Rubin, also received a Pulitzer for international reporting for her work detailing injustices and abuse faced by women in Afghanistan.
