Actor Erik Bauersfeld, who voiced Admiral Ackbar in two Star Wars films, has passed away the age of 93.
Bauersfeld was born in New York in 1922 and did voice work for other movies such as A.I. Artificial Intelligence in 2001. He recently lent his voice to The Force Awakens just as he had for Return of the Jedi.
CNN reported that Bauersfeld died of natural causes at home where he lived in Berkeley, CA.
Derek Maki, his agent, posted a tribute to his client on his website, saying “A true friend who touched our lives. You will be deeply missed!” He also posted a photo on Twitter of Bauersfeld holding the mask for Admiral Ackbar.

He wasn’t just the voice of the Admiral who said the famous line “It’s a trap!” Bauersfeld was also the voice of one of the men who served Jabba the Hutt in the same film.
