David Gest, music producer and ex-husband to Liza Minelli, has died at 62

Music producer and reality television star David Gest passed away at the age of 62. He was found dead in a London hotel on Tuesday.

According to The Associated Press, his death was confirmed by a friend named Imad Handi. He was remembered as “a natural star and a genuine celebrity.”

London’s Four Seasons Hotel was where Gest was found and the Metropolitan Police force said it had been reported there was “an unexplained death of a man in his 60s.”

An autopsy will be performed in order to determine how Gest died.

Gest was married to Liza Minelli in 2002, but they separated in 2003 with Gest making accusations against Minelli for domestic abuse. Their divorce was finalized in 2007.

Gest was a friend of Michael Jackson and was producer for a 2011 documentary on his life called Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon.

Scotty T, winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2016, tweeted his condolences on Gest’s passing.

Other celebrities followed suit with their own messages of remebrance.
