BookCase.Club subscription April unboxing review

[yasr_overall_rating]

The BookCase.Club is a monthly subscription box that sends you two novels in the genre of your choosing for only $9.99. Not only are they affordable, but they make the world a better place to live in by working with charity. Read on to find out what to expect from their boxes and to get a coupon worth 10 percent off your first box.

As seen at the top of this review, the books were sent in an attractive logo box. The novels were tucked safely inside. I had no issues with damage.

I chose the Blind Date Case which was their paranormal romance box. Paranormal romance novels are a guilty pleasure of mine and there’s only a few boxes available on the market that cater to them. Other genres available from the BookCase.Club are Strange Worlds (fantasy and sci-fi), Teenage Dreams (young adult), Thrill Seeker (mystery/thriller), Read to Me (children’s picture books) and Booking for Love (romance). All boxes have the same reasonable price.

The first book inside my box was a hardcover called Crystal Gardens by Amanda Quick. It’s the first novel in the Ladies of Lantern Street series. It’s about a man and woman with psychic talents fighting a common enemy. It’s in brand new condition and judging by the write-up it is a fluffier novel to read when I don’t want to think too hard. Those are perfect now and then, but it may surprise me yet and be an in-depth read.

Next in the box was a new trade paperback called The Other Side of Midnight by Simone St. James. This one looks like it’s less fluff with an involved story. A book involving mediums in the 1920's, this one has a murder mystery and a psychic-debunking hunk. I love a good mystery mixed with my paranormal, not to mention historical stories, so this one will get read first.

Lastly in the box was a strip of stickers with the club’s name on them. I personally don’t have a use for these, so they will probably be recycled or given to my nephew to stick on drawings.

Looking the books up on Amazon, Crystal Gardens isn’t worth a lot, but The Other Side of Midnight is worth $12.18 on its own, so this box is a good deal. In addition to being inexpensive, this book club also donates one children’s book per paid subscription to Books for Keeps – a charity that places books in the hands of children who are least likely to have access to them.

The only downside I can see for this club is that you may already own what they ship you since they’re not recently published books. The Other Side of Midnight was published in 2015 and Crystal Gardens is from 2012. They’re not ancient, but old enough you might have purchased them in the past. However, it’s an inexpensive way to build up your library if you don’t own a lot of books in that genre. It’s also cheap enough that you could pass a book on to a friend without gritting your teeth.

To sign up for BookCase.Club, click here and use the code BookWarehouse for 10 percent off. You can pay monthly or pay ahead for a 3, 6 or 12-month stint. Shipping is just $5.00. Books will be a mix of hardcover and softcover in whatever genre you pick. Affordable books for you and free books for kids. Seems like a no brainer to me.
