‘Backtrack’ is an eerie story that will keep you guessing

Lionsgate Studios will put out the new Adrian Brody film, Backtrack, on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on April 26. The film is an intriguing ghost story wrapped around a mystery. The tale makes you pay attention to try to solve an incident that the main character has forgotten due to self-preservation. You’ll be guessing at the solution right up until the end.

Brody plays Peter Bower, a psychiatrist whose daughter has, recently, tragically died. He and his wife are having a hard time moving on and he’s in therapy himself. When he realizes that all of his current patients are dead, the story really starts moving. He has to dive into his past to uncover a terrifying secret to stop the haunting.

Brody’s acting is impeccable. He’s believable as this strained and devastated man. The storyline is enthralling; many times I thought I had figured out the mystery, and every time I was wrong. There’s some jump out of your chair moments and an overall eeriness that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The ending is satisfying and mostly unpredictable.

This movie is suspenseful and thrilling and the mix of mystery and horror is pleasing. I would recommend this dark tale to lovers of both genres.

See if you can solve the enigma before Brody does.
