Director Steven Soderbergh is adding another television project to his resume. The Oscar winner will reunite with Out of Sight writer Scott Frank for a limited series in development at Netflix.
The project is called Godless and is only described as a Western that takes place in 1884, notes The Hollywood Reporter. It will be a limited series, written and directed by Frank, and will be filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Soderbergh will serve as an executive producer with Frank and Casey Silver. He is currently working on Cinemax’s The Knick and Starz’s The Girlfriend Experience. Netflix isn’t even the only streaming service he’s working with, as he has Red Oaks at Amazon.
The news comes a month after some confusing reports over Soderberg’s possible return to feature filmmaking. That new project is called Hillbilly Heist and stars Michael Shannon and Channing Tatum. Production will start this fall, reports Deadline.
Frank was nominated for an Oscar for Out Of Sight and his credits include Get Shorty, The Wolverine and A Walk Among The Tombstones. Hopefully this project will turn out better for Frank, since his last TV show, Hoke, never even aired.
