Chicago P.D. star Sophia Bush discussed producers and casting agents' habit of saying degrading things about women and what she does to stand up to it.
The actress told AOL that degrading language is oftentimes a norm in the entertainment industry when discussing women's physical appearances.
Bush said that she has heard producers comment on women's bodies and looks while flipping through casting photos. She once stood up and said, "'Hey, you didn't say that about any of the three guys who you just flipped through, and if you want to do it, don't make the mistake of doing it front of me again.'"
Motivated by this unfortunate reality, Bush worked with the beauty product brand EcoTools to create the campaign #MyTrueBeauty. The campaign worked to raise money for The Girl Project, an organization dedicated to increasing girls' education internationally.
Bush is also an active member of I AM THAT GIRL, an organization that aims to get rid of self-doubt and raise self-love for all women physically, mentally and emotionally. It calls for girls to treat themselves and each other better and more positively.
Bush is best known for her current role on NBC's Chicago P.D. and also starred on One Tree Hill.
