It's about to be a pirate's life for Paul McCartney.
On March 24, Deadline reported that the singer would join the cast of the fifth installment of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which will be released on May 26, 2017.
The role is a cameo created specifically for McCartney and the scene in which he will appear involves an elaborate set piece.
McCartney isn't the only musician to appear in the franchise. He's joined by the likes of Keith Richards - who Johnny Depp told Rolling Stone served as part of his inspiration for Captain Jack Sparrow.
McCartney will be in highly respected company, as the cast for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales also includes Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites and Geoffrey Rush. Orlando Bloom is set to reprise his role as well.
The production of the latest installment in the franchise has not gone without its hiccups. As we reported, last March Depp injured his hand while filming on location in Queensland, Australia, causing production delays that continued through April.
