News broke on March 21 that a woman said she and another female were sexually harassed by Los Angeles Lakers players Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson over the weekend. Following the accusations, the team announced that it was looking into matter while Young’s fiancée, Iggy Azalea, said she believed the story was fabricated.
As ESPN noted, the accuser is Alexis Jones, an activist who’s focus is on stopping athletes from committing sexual harassment, sexual abuse and domestic violence. She alleges that Young and Clarkson made obscene gestures at her and her 68-year-old mother when they were stopped alongside their vehicle at a Hollywood intersection.
On Tuesday evening, Clarkson addressed the allegations calling them a “miscommunication.”
"The situation, like we said, was just a miscommunication between both sides," Clarkson said. "We don't want to go into further detail about who's right and who's wrong in that situation. But at the end of the day, it was a miscommunication."
The Lakers released a statement about the situation on Tuesday as well.
"We've looked into the situation and spoken to Alexis Jones as well as to Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson," Black said in the statement. "Based on these conversations, our conclusion is that there are different interpretations of what happened.
"We support Nick and Jordan and believe what they told us about the incidents and their actions. We also are supportive of Alexis and her feelings about what happened, about women's rights, and of the fine work Alexis is doing with her organization.”
Also on Tuesday, TMZ Sports cameras caught up with Azalea and asked her if she felt the claims against her fiancé were fabricated to which she responded, “Yes.”
