HBO's marketing department is finally dropping major hints that Jon Snow will return to Game of Thrones.
According to Business Insider, a new teaser shown at HBO's SXSW exhibit heavily implies the method by which Snow will come back to life. The clip cannot be seen anywhere online, as members of the press were prohibited from recording it, but the footage reportedly features Melisandre saying, "I saw him in the flames, fighting at Winterfell," followed by an image of Jon Snow's body.
This would support the popular theory that following Stannis' death, Melisandre will realize she was wrong about him being Azor Ahai reborn, now believing Snow is actually the one she should have been following all along. She will then presumably bring Snow back to life, as we know from previous seasons that followers of the Lord of Light have this power.
Carice Van Houten has already said Melisandre will play a pivotal role in this upcoming season, as we previously reported.
“You’ve seen her clock Jon Snow, which is a great ending because you think, ‘Uh oh, what’s going to happen there,'” she said. “You feel that she is concentrating more and more towards Jon Snow…there are slight hints that something’s going to happen.”
Game of Thrones returns for its sixth season on April 24.
