MTV's Scream is coming back for a second season and the network has officially announced the premiere date.
According to MTV, Scream will return for all new episodes on May 31. The second season will pick up a few months after the events of the finale: Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) returns to Lakewood after spending some time at a retreat, while Noah (John Karna) tries to uncover the truth about the murders and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) struggles to hide her association with the killer. Carlson Young, Tom Maden, Tracy Middendorf and Amadeus Serafini are all set to reprise their roles.
In addition, season 2 will introduce us to several new characters: Zoe (Kiana Ledé), described as an overachieving student who is harboring a secret; Karen Lang (Austin Highsmith), a psychology teacher who bonds with her students; Tina Hudson (Karina Logue), who is "proper and polite but has a grifter’s sense of self-reliance"; Kieran's cousin Eli (Sean Grandillo); Sheriff Michael Acosta (Anthony Ruivivar), a cop who grew up in Lakewood and now makes his return to the town; and finally Sheriff Acosta's son Gustavo (Santiago Segura), a student who's obsessed with horror and serial killers. He and Noah should get along quite nicely.
Scream was a moderate success for MTV last summer, averaging 755,000 viewers across its first 10 episodes. It will likely have a slightly different creative direction this year, as season 1 showrunners Jill Blotevogel and Jaime Paglia have been replaced by Michael Gans and Richard Register, as we previously reported. Jill Blotevogel will remain on board as a creative consultant.
