Jessica Chastain has attempted to debunk, once and for all, the myth that she and Jennifer Lawrence feuded during the 2013 Oscars season.
On March 9, Chastain told Haute Living that the reported rivalry between the two A-listers - who were both up for Best Actress that year - was pure rumor.
"I know also during Oscar season [2012-2013] media, because they were trying to get headlines and get clicks, were trying to fabricate a fake rivalry between Jennifer Lawrence and myself." She said she was quick to make a stand and say, "this is a media myth that has to stop."
She continued, emphasizing her commitment to her fellow actresses: "The women I know are not like this and I cheer for women to succeed because I know when an actress succeeds that means there’s going to be that many more roles for women because an audience is going to demand it.”
Chastain also complimented "Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?," the essay that Lawrence recently penned for Lena Dunham's Lenny Letter, calling the piece "incredible."
As we previously reported, Chastain now has a production company of her own, Freckle Films, which was recently launched. Chastain's upcoming projects include Miss Sloane, a drama about gun control in which she is set to star alongside Allison Pill. She will also star alongside Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron in The Huntsman: Winter's War, which CinemaBlend reports will released on April 22.
