'Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie' officially greenlit at Nickelodeon

Hey Arnold! is returning to Nickelodeon with a movie that will finally wrap up that massive cliffhanger.

Craig Bartlett, creator of the original series, posted the news on his Instagram page, revealing that the Hey Arnold! TV film will be two hours long and will be subtitled The Jungle Movie. It will pick up where the show left off, with Arnold discovering a map that may allow him to track down his long-lost parents.

Yes, that is how the show ended. The final episode was specifically written as a prequel to a made-for-TV movie, which at the time was being referred to as The Jungle Movie. However, after the financial disappointment of the theatrical Hey Arnold! film, Nickelodeon decided to cancel the project altogether. That meant fans were left hanging for the past 14 years, but now the storyline is finally getting a resolution.

We heard rumblings of this Hey Arnold! revival a few months ago, but this is the first official confirmation from the man himself. The reboots won't end there, though. Nickelodeon plans to bring back many of their classic properties both for parents who grew up with the originals and for a new generation, including an As Told By Ginger revival to air next year. The biggest project of all is a live-action movie called Nicktoons, which will be a Who Framed Roger Rabbit? style film featuring many of the classic Nick characters, as we previously reported.

Hey Arnold is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
