Fox News cancels Republican debate after Donald Trump refuses to participate

After Donald Trump announced that he wouldn’t participate in the next Republican presidential debate, Fox News has canceled the debate scheduled for March 21 altogether.

In a statement on March 16, Fox News Executive Vice President Michael Clemente announced they were canceling the debate in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He noted the reasoning was because of Trump announcing he was pulling out, and as a result, John Kasich said he wouldn’t go if Trump wasn’t going.

“Ted Cruz has expressed a willingness to debate Trump or Kasich — or both. But obviously, there needs to be more than one participant. So the Salt Lake City debate is cancelled," said Clemente, Politico reports.

Clemente also said in the statement Fox News only agreed to host the debate, “provided there were enough candidates actively campaigning.”

On Fox & Friends on the morning of Wednesday, March 16, Trump claimed “nobody told” him about the debate and he had a prior commitment to the pro-Israel group AIPAC. He also admitted he’s "had enough" of the debates.
