These beginning readers are so beloved that several have been adapted into successful television specials, Broadway musicals and major motion pictures. In 2003 live action versions of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey and The Cat in the Hat starring Mike Myers were released. Later, there was a resurgence of animated versions that include Horton Hears a Who in 2008 and The Lorax in 2012.
